Continuing the theme of “what you can do for your health for virtually no cost”, here is information especially useful for people dealing with cancer, but applicable to everyone.
Just about the best thing you can do for yourself is stay active. A small amount of light exercise such as easy-paced walking for a total of 1 to 2 hours a week has been found to improve outcomes for breast cancer and colon cancer patients.
For breast cancer, a study of 3,000 nurses did not show any further improvement as a result of extra exercise beyond 1 to 2 hours per week, but the investigators pointed out that this may have been a limitation of the study design, rather than an absence of benefit. The key take-away though is that even small amounts of activity resulted in a significant improvement in outcomes.
Another study published in 2008 in the Journal of Oncology found that active colon cancer patients (defined in this case as people who did the equivalent of 6 hours walking per week) had a 47% improvement in recurrence and mortality risks compared with inactive patients.
The message - keep moving! It will improve your health and the quality of your life, and it won’t damage your pocketbook.

What with the uncertain economic times and the stress that we are all under, I’m going to be putting out information about very inexpensive ways we can make profound improvements in our health. We couldn’t afford to get sick before. Now, it’s even more important that we take good care of ourselves — and our pocketbooks.
I’m going to put the details on my web site so they will always be available, without the short shelf life of blog postings, and I’ll let you know here whenever there’s anything new.
There’s a new page on the site called How To Detox. It has 3 different detox plans on it. The first one shows how you can detoxify for less than 25 cents a day. It’s definitely worth taking a look at. I also revised the Zeta Crystals page that describes the benefits of electrolytic minerals in “charged” water.

We get sick when we fall out of harmony with nature. We fall into a state of vibratory chaos that I call “dis-ease”. It occurs when the systems of life shift out of synchrony with each other. Dis-ease can be caused by physical, mental and spiritual factors.
Dis-ease causes a huge amount of stress and makes it difficult for us to make wise decisions. A destructive cycle can be set up where stress causes more dis-ease, which causes more stress, and on it goes. This is one of the main ways that we suffer.
Fortunately, there are new techniques that offer a way out of the stress. Foremost among them is mindfulness therapy, known formally as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. It is being used in progressive medical centers in North America and Europe to give patients a new tool to raise the quality of their lives. It is also being studied extensively by scientists.
A recent study of people with fibromyalgia, for instance, showed that after a brief training in mindfulness therapy, patients reported significantly lower levels of pain, anxiety, and depression than similar patients who did not get the training. The training took place in 8 short weekly sessions.
The study found that 3 years after the training the improved pain, anxiety, and depression measures persisted with the group who had learned to meditate, versus those who had not. This is consistent with the findings of other sudies. They show that the pay-off of mindfulness therapy is huge compared with the effort that it takes to learn it, plus it is virtually free.
Mindfulness therapy was developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. You can easily find out where to learn mindfulness. UMASS maintain a worldwide list of mindfulness therapy centers at their Center for Mindfulness .

Ever since Louis Pasteur invented the germ theory of disease, we have been at war with germs and have developed more and more antibiotics and other things to kill them. We thought this would get rid of disease, but what has happened is that we now have disease-resistant bugs, and new forms of disease that have arisen and become rampant
A contemporary of Pasteur, Antoine Bechamp, put forward a different theory of disease. He demonstrated that diseases arise when the “terrain” or environment in the body favors disease. He showed that germs are not the causes of disease, but are actually effects or symptoms of disease, and that natural means are sufficient to get rid of them
Pasteur eventually conceded that Bechamp had in fact got in right. He wrote in his private journal, which was not published until long after his death, that: “It is not the germ that causes disease but the terrain in which the germ is found.” However, Pasteur’s ideas had tremendous commercial potential and gave rise to a huge pharmaceutical and medical industry that has no interest in the work of Bechamp.
Bechamp’s theory supports the approach taken by natural medicine doctors such as myself. We believe that the way to good health is by creating conditions in the body that support vitality and well-being, understanding that the body knows how to heal itself once it is given a chance. There is no need to wage war against this or that disease. Our nature is wise and powerful, and when we cooperate with it, so-called “miracles” can occur.
